Dr. Simone Sturm, DAOM, FABORM — Clinic Owner
Dr. Simone Sturm specializes in the holistic treatment of women and children. Her practice includes women’s health, fertility, pregnancy, labor and childbirth, postpartum care and pediatrics. She brings years of clinical experience to her practice, has worked as a primary care provider under California law, and strongly believes in the integration of Eastern and Western medicine in order to treat disease and maintain well-being. As an advocate of functional medicine, Dr. Sturm believes in healing and wellness for her patients according to their unique needs. Dr. Sturm has received advanced, post-graduate training in the US and China in reproductive health, obstetrics, gynecology and pediatrics.
Dr. Sturm is among the ﬁrst of a handful of practitioners in Colorado to have earned the degree of Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from an institution accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). She received her DAOM from Five Branches University in San Jose, CA with a specialization in Reproductive Women’s Health and Pain Management. Dr. Sturm is also a fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine, the ABORM. Fellows have demonstrated competency and advanced knowledge in the field of both Western and Oriental Reproductive Medicine by passing an advanced board certification examination. Additionally, Dr. Sturm has received extensive training in Functional Medicine from the Functional Medicine University.
She also holds Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) from the Paciﬁc College of Oriental Medicine in New York City, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class. She has also been trained by CAPPA (the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) as a childbirth educator and labor doula, and she believes strongly in holistic pregnancy practices.
Dr. Sturm is board certiﬁed as a Diplomate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, which is the most advanced certiﬁcation available in the field of TCM. She is certiﬁed by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) in Clean Needle Technique and is state certiﬁed in New York, California (as a primary care provider) and Colorado. She also offers fertility acupuncture treatments. Dr. Sturm is also a graduate of the University of Southern California.
Devoted to her passion for teaching, Dr. Sturm is a clinic supervisor and instructor at both the Colorado School of Chinese Medicine (CSTCM) in Denver and at Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC) in Boulder. She is an active member of the SWAC Research Committee and a member of the ASRM, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
Jodi Yemen — Nurse Practitioner, WHNP
Jodi is a board certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, who has had a strong passion for helping women achieve optimal health and wellness for over 10 years.
Jodi uses an integrated approach in her care, combining western medicine with a holistic focus that is customized to individual patient needs. Jodi believes in honoring the connection between body, mind and spirit and working together with the patient to reach their highest state of wellness. Jodi recognizes the significant impact of hormone changes and imbalances on women's health and has training in Bio-identical Replacement Therapy (BHRT), studying under Dr. Neil Rouzier, a leader in BHRT practice.
Jodi received her clinical training through the University of Colorado Health Sciences and earned her Doctorate in Health Science through A.T. Still University College of Health Science. Her research focused on exploring barriers to incorporating complementary and holistic medicine within traditional care.
Jodi also serves as a faculty member at Regis University teaching in both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs and she is a member of American Holistic Nurses Association. Jodi continues her commitment to advancing women's wellness initiatives and reshaping the well women visit.
Emma Seigel Bailey, MS -Functional Nutritionist
Emma believes gaining an understanding of your body is your greatest tool to live a full, healthy life. Her approach to health is centered on patient education and individualized lifestyle and
nutritional recommendation to address the root cause of dysfunction. She works with women who have a wide range of health concerns, including but not limited to gut health, autoimmune disease, thyroid health, and fertility.
Emma’s goal is to give you the tools to be your own best health advocate and support you to ask the hard questions, believe you have control over your body, and encourage you to do the personal work that it takes to achieve sustainable health. She believes that a healthy relationship between food, mind, and body can transform the way you feel in your skin and how you move through life.
Emma is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, and holds a Masters of Science in Functional Nutrition and Integrative Health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health. She keeps current in functional nutrition through the Institute of Functional Medicine courses and implements the latest research to best serve her patients.
Marie Gonzer - Associate Acupuncturist
Marie’s interest in gynecology and fertility began ten years ago when she experienced profound changes of her reproductive cycle with the use of Chinese medicine, which deepened her understanding that cycles are integrative, adaptable and self-healing if provided the right environment.
She is passionate about educating and empowering women to understand and heal their bodies providing a therapeutic and compassionate environment to connect with each patient using a gentle and effective acupuncture style.
Marie holds a Masters Degree of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) from Pacific College of San Diego. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Colorado and board certified as Diplomate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Her interest in holistic medicine practices started while earning her BA in Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University.
Marie has been working in complementary healthcare for the past 12 years and specializes in the treatment of women’s health and fertility. She is currently pursuing advanced coursework and certification to become a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine.
With considerable knowledge of and a deep respect for the complexity of the female reproductive system, Marie strives toempower women to understand their gynecology and fertility from a position of self-awareness, compassion and curiosity.
Talia gumbiner - Office Coordinator
Talia is a 3rd generation Colorado native and graduate of Colorado State University. She studied in Italy, interned in New York City, volunteered in Argentina, and has developed a passion for travel and culture. Currently, she participates in volunteer work with therapy horses in Littleton. Over the years, Talia developed a strong interest in natural remedies and holistic wellness and is thrilled to be a part of the team.
In her spare time, Talia enjoys yoga, live music, being with her family and exploring new places!
Karlye Ambrozic — Labor Doula
Karlye is a Denver graduate from Metropolitan State University where she received a Bachelors of Science in Integrative Healthcare and a minor in Health Care Management. There she studied both Western and Alternative medicine specializing her coursework in Women’s Reproductive health. Learning an integrative approach to wellness allows her to help women birthing in hospitals, birthing centers, and at home. Her support goes beyond just the physical and aids in the emotional, mental, and spiritual changes leading up to, during, and after each women's unique birth experience.
After 6 years of working closely with Holistic Practitioners, in 2018 she completed her Doula training through DONA International. Her goal is to educate, encourage, and empower women and their partners throughout their prenatal care, during the labor process, and postpartum. When she is not assisting families with intimate care, she spends her time traveling the world with her husband, cooking up delicious new recipes, and backpacking through the beautiful Colorado Mountains.
Sophia O’Keefe — social media manager and clinic intern, future acupuncturist
Sophia joined Denver Holistic Medicine in August 2015 as our Office Coordinator. She recently decided to go back to school to study Chinese Medicine full time and has therefore taken on a new role at DHM, as our project supervisor. She is a North Carolina native and is now happy to call Denver her home. She has been working in holistic health care for 3 years prior to joining our team.
She has experience working with a multitude of holistic practitioners and methods, including naturopathic medicine, chiropractic, massage therapy, mental health therapy and physical therapy. She is passionate about alternative and holistic health and wellness and enjoys helping provide patients with the resources they need to take control of their own health.
Sophia is currently finishing up her Master’s of Science of Chinese Medicine and will join the DHM team as associate acupuncturist in early 2020!
In her free time she enjoys hiking, camping, running, yoga and time spent with her beloved dachshund Tegan.
